palindroned: I will not be the last Jedi

friendly reminder that Poe did That
Someone mentioned that the whole temple debacle was orchestrated by someone (uhm? snoke) and I wonder if even Luke’s gut reaction to killing Ben was actually influenced by Snoke.
If you read the TFA novelization, it’s theorized that it’s Snoke who is tempting Rey to kill Ben at the end and it makes me wonder if Snoke does that a lot? Or at least…has done that before? If Snoke saw that Ben was starting to feel something towards Rey (which, again, the novelization tells us that YES he WAS feeling something towards Rey AND that Snoke knew about it) and Snoke decided that Rey trying to kill him would curb that (like it curbed Ben’s connecton to his uncle) and would thus make him more controllable.
So what if that lapse in judgement that Luke recognized was, in reality, Snoke saying “he’s too far gone, he needs to die” in Luke’s mind, and then Snoke went and woke Ben up in order to spark Ben’s fall. I mean Ben resisted Snoke for 23 years (probably because of his loyalty to his family) and I think he needed that last straw, the “he’s trying to kill you! they hate you!” starw in order to spark his fall.
I’ve been thinking about this. I think Ben and the Temple might’ve just been hit by the news of his connection to Vader. I think he probably was at some sort of a nadir of coping and Snoke took advantage of that to amplify and show Luke when Luke when looking. I think the endless dark he saw in Ben was a shadow cast deliberately by Snoke.
It’s implied Snoke, Luke, Ben et al have an ongoing history and I think many would know – from how the Temple was run if nothing else – that Luke was encouraging old school Jedi and a schism between dark and light.
To cause Luke to be the catalyst to the start of Ben’s real fall her is actually very intelligent of Snoke. He has turned Ben’s sanctuary into a threat and burnt it down. We see Luke immediately change his mind but he’s already solidified in Ben’s head as a theat and a source of fear. With the grooming Snoke probably already gave it probably seemed easy to run into his arms for comfort.
And of course not find it.
And having drawn a wedge between Ben and the Legendary Luke Skywalker and therefore probably to young Ben’s eyes he never felt like he had a path back. Snoke wanted to kill Rey with the “cruellest stroke” – causing Luke to recreate his father’s legacy through Ben is definitely an example of that I think.
So he cripples two, possibly three fronts working against him if Leia’s ongoing grief can count.
He likes to turn love against love. He is not a loving entity but love is a weapon to him.
Anyhow random ramblings which basically say I think you’re right. I also wonder if he can reside with his darkness in places.
willow-s-linda: Random Star Wars sketch dump something 😀 Can’t wait to see Last Jedi again on Monday 🙂
had to draw this scene! i cant stop thinking about it
I’m sad Poe and Luke never had a moment together in tlj I was looking forward to them being gay and talking about their crushes together.
Poe fawning over Finn. Luke telling him stories about how great Han was….
