• one of the first (if not THE first) to break stormtrooper conditioning
• is a stormtrooper who can actually hit things okay
• he and rey have near exact introduction shots, he and rey also have parallelism in terms of a narrative arc AND IT WOULD BE COOL IF THEY BOTH GOT LIGHTSABERS 
• the visual cue of all Force sensitives first appearing with masks on, and removing them due to an “awakening”
• kylo ren senses fn-2187 during the assault on jakku, enough to remember his call sign later in the film
• hears the screams of people on hosinian prime while on takodana, is the first person to notice that the Starkiller base is firing
• his leaving prompts rey’s force vision
• maz kanata gives finn, not han–who she knows and likely trusts, luke’s lightsaber
• later maz kanata insists that finn has a weapon– if we’re going with eu lore, lightsabers are only able to be wielded by jedi
• manages to handle his own against kylo ren for a while, including injuring kylo’s shoulder
• this one’s a stretch but: at the end it looks like he’s wearing a white tunic, reminiscent of luke’s outfit in ANH
