he and Leia are actually identical twins but Luke got on blockers and then T early and looks totally different, she looks more like he did when he was little, he’d noticed it before, and that’s why he so easily and quickly realized she was his twin

Luke always worried about whether his parents would accept him, if they were alive, and Vader immediately and comfortably referring to Luke as his son makes Luke even more sure there’s good in him and less willing to give up
